Dream Big Reach Far

Vivid Sydney & Jazz

Two months ago it was Vivid Sydney here in the city – the festival of light, color and sounds. Three powerful concepts united with one and only goal – entertainment. From 22 May to 8 June the city was enlightened with a variety of interacting and exciting events.

We kicked off this Vivid with a fantastic ‘Star search lights’ experience when we got a chance to control dozens of them with a touch of a few buttons. My wife chose to control the colour and I ended up with taking charge of movement and patterns. We got 2 minutes for getting as much as we could from it and despite the first impression that it was not enough – it was enough. Beside the ‘Star’, there were a lot of other attractions as well. Here is the map. This post is a little bit overdue so we will write about other attractions next time and will dedicate this post to the ‘Star’ and… jazz.

With the Star attraction we got to choose the type of music to play to. There were more than 10 genres, and interesting that there was no hop-hop. Hip-hop is actually not big at all here in Sydney. It is definitely not as popular as in the USA and not even as big as in Ukraine. I remember the times when my wife and I were strolling the streets in the car listening to Rick Ross’s “Aston Martin Music”, Drake’s “Hold On”, Tupac’s “Better Dayz”… The environment, the acoustics, the time do make a difference for choosing the soundtrack of your life.

Here, in Sydney, we are definitely more into jazz. It is a beautiful genre with a long history and amazing vibes. When we went to Prague several years ago we went to the oldest local jazz club – Redutta. It was an amazing night that left us with lots of great memories – simple but mind-blowing interior, live high-quality music, same-minded people… We are excited to find something similar in Sydney, too.

If you know some good jazz places to go – let us know in the comments below, please 🙂

Cheers.
