Collaboration & Participation
How often do you hear about participation or collaboration? Although this is very important and both terms are widely used across the Internet, many overlook it. Or at least they do not pay much attention to the fact that collaboration is all about putting as much efforts into someone else’s success as into your own. Yes, that’s right. For the period you are collaborating with your fellow blogger, friend, brand or anyone else rhyming with the ‘and’ you are no longer thinking only about yourself anymore. It is about you AND that guy.
And it’s not always easy. However, there is a trick to make it a fun and easy way – start collaborating with people who you like or who had a good first impression on you. Even easier, collaborate with someone you know. And if you are an active Instagram or Twitter, find some interesting people among your followers and offer them your collaboration ideas.
But how do you do it, right?
One
Start with an ‘old school’ way – tag or repost. If you ask why I call it ‘old school’ – the answer is simple, because everyone knows how to do it. You can ask people about crediting you on their photos, then share those photos on your page. Alternatively, you can tag someone who you really want to check out your account.
Don’t underestimate the power of collaboration! A lot of random people you never knew and would have never known otherwise may find your content, like, comment and even share it on their pages. From this point, you can get new followers, new visitors, conversions and so on. Not to say about the flattering effect of someone praising your work… Such a delight! 🙂
Two
Participation. Let’s look at Instagram here. How often do you see various contests on IG? How often do you see that the contest that you think you could win at is closed?
Staying on track with those is also part of the social media skillset but luckily a very easy one to master. Start with your audience. Look for people who organize contests, giveaways and sponsored posts. Follow them if you do not already. Then go outside of your audience but searching for #giveaway and #contest hashtags and their variations (#giveaways, #prize #competition2017, etc.). All of this will help you to never miss a handful of contests!
Three
Thirdly, ask people about what they like to see in your feed. You can do it via a description under one of your recent (and one of your best ever!) photos or you can send direct messages. Your followers will be happy to get involved and participate in your account’s life. This is one of the most effective ways to make your profile more interesting and engaging.
Make your own collaboration with two or three bloggers to begin with, choose your topic and share ideas, experience or feelings about it. Be friendly, positive and always share your thoughts! I hope that these tips will help you to find your niche and become unique!
